Sorry David, my misunderstanding.
I thought it had been decommissioned a while ago in favour of the subscribe option.

Forum Upgrade
I've upgraded the forum to the latest version. With that comes a choice of two new templates (prosilver or prolight). Both work well with mobile phones. The default for new users is prolight. If you are an existing user it will be prosilver. You can change this in profile -> edit profile -> board pr...

Re: New publication - BCRA Annual Review
It is not true that the BCA Newsletter and BCA Handbook have ceased publication.
They are no longer being printed but will be published electronically.
We have a keen volunteer for the Newsletter and several edition have already been published on the website.

Re: Surface-cave communication while moving underground
Hi Luc, Stuart France (member of CREG, contact details at http://www.chelseaspelaeo.org.uk/contacts.htm ) designed and built a cave telephone for the South Wales Cave Rescue teams. I recall watching an interesting talk on the subject from Stuart himself. The article describing it is available from h...

Re: CREG Journals now all in stock
I doubt if pdf/a is "the answer" but it might well be part of the answer.
If pdf/a does what it says on the tin then it should go a long way to addressing those problems although clearly Adobe can't control external printer drivers etc. but at least you are starting from a solid base.

Re: CREG Journals now all in stock
Something of interest I came across recently might be of interest here. There is a specific pdf standard for digital archiving called pdf/a. This format has a better chance than most of still being readable many years from now without those subtle changes creeping in. See http://www.adobe.com/enterp...

A reading of 5.8% (5800ppm) C02 was recorded in Cuckoo Cleeves last year at the height of the CO2 problems there. I would say a typical reading for a cave would be around the 1% (1000ppm) level. So a range of 10,000ppm would probably be more useful than 3000ppm otherwise you are in danger of going o...

Re: Any new built Heyphones, Nicolas?
Hello, PS.: Is it customary for new members to introduce themselves here or in a better location in this forum? Hi Mattias, there is no need to introduce yourself. Although if want to, use whichever section you are most comfortable with. I can't help you with your query, but I'm sure Mr Gibson will...

You must now register before you can post.
Today, I've replaced the 'Free For All' forum with the 'Caving Forum'. You must now register if you wish to post. You can continue to read without registering. Also, registration is now moderated and will take a little time to process. Basically until a moderator receives your request to join and ap...

Purpose of the BCA Forum
These are, pretty much, some words I wrote for the UKCaving Forum. I think are worth reposting here: I think it is worth saying what I see as the purpose of the BCA Forum. For those who haven't realised it, I'm the person who setup and administers the BCA Forum. LesW helps out with the admin and mod...

Idris has emailed me this question: How do I get in? You don't need to do anything to read the messages on the public forums, just select the forums and topics you are interested in. To post messages or join the private forums you need to Login. The first time you need to Register as well. Select Re...

Introduction
A forum is the modern version of the mailing list/newsgroup. It allows discussions to be held, questions to be asked, answers to be given. Amongst its many advantages over a mailing lists is that it is easy to look back through previous postings so a newcomer can quickly get up to speed on a topic. ...
