CREG Field Meeting - Derbyshire - 27th April 2019
Posted: Wed 27 Mar 2019 16:39
As previously announced, we are combining the CREG Spring Field Meeting with a BCRA meeting at the new British Cave Monitoring Centre (BCMC) at Poole’s Cavern, Derbyshire on Saturday 27th April 2019.
There will be both cave and surface sessions, with opportunities to take a detailed look at the monitoring instrumentation, communications and data logging currently within the cave, and to take a look at various sinks and swallets on the surface and discuss the dye-tracing that has been done.
There is no doubt that expertise, such as that often exhibited by CREG members, would be valuable as the centre develops and we’d like to imagine a long-term mutually beneficial relationship with the BCMC.
For a number of reasons, it has not proved possible to arrange a more typical CREG-style field meeting for the Sunday of that weekend, as had been hoped. Accordingly, we are making this a one-day event, focussed on the BCMC and intend to return to our usual field meeting format at a date in the Autumn.
We think that this chance to look over the BCMC in detail will appeal to many CREG members. Obviously, it will also be a good opportunity to catch up with other kindred spirits.
We will send out a further note when we have more details. It would be helpful if you would let us know if you plan to come along on Saturday 27th April so that we have a better feel for numbers.
Regards
