CREG Autumn Field Meeting 27/28 October 2018
Posted: Fri 28 Sep 2018 16:49
The next CREG field meeting will be held in the Yorkshire Dales over the weekend of 27th/28th October 2018.
We would like to have as varied a programme of activities as possible. In addition to cave to surface communications in various forms, other areas of cave technology that have featured at recent meetings include surveying, photography, cave detection, lighting, rugged computing and portable power sources, and we would welcome the opportunity to spread the net much wider.
We’ve currently reserved a very limited number of bunk spaces at the Bradford Pothole Club HQ at Brackenbottom, near Horton-in-Ribblesdale for the nights of 26th and 27th. If you’d like to grab one, please contact us, either via this forum or at the email address below, so that we can keep tabs on numbers. Obviously, other camping and accommodation options are available nearby.
The outline plan for Saturday 27th is to meet at the Inglesport cafe in Ingleton until about 09:00 and then base ourselves at KMC Valley Entrance from 09:30 onwards.
On Sunday 28th we plan to congregate at Inglesport once more and then go elsewhere, probably Great Douk, Calf Holes or Brow Gill, but the choice will be determined by the technical requirements of whatever is to be trialled or demonstrated.
We will attempt to put out a message later on the Saturday to confirm the arrangements for Sunday, but, if you plan to come only on the Sunday, it would be wise to give us contact details so that we can advise accordingly.
We’re grateful to the number of people who’ve contributed suggestions of alternative venues. KMC Valley Entrance has many advantages but we remain determined to find alternatives to this often-frequented location, as different conditions and geologies may well introduce different and interesting technical challenges.
Look forward to seeing you,
Rob
