Emails bouncing to server admin

Post by David Cooke » Mon 30 Sep 2013 14:33

As the server admin I frequently receive emails generated by the hosted websites that have bounced. They should not bounce to me but to the website administrator - that way you'll know there is a problem.

Generally it is the home-brew software that does this because the envelope-from address is not set and defaults to the server admin. A simple explanation of what is going on is at [http://www.pobox.com/helpspot/index.php ... age&id=260]

Some info about fixing it (for php) is at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1790 ... g-php-mail

If your website is misbehaving I'll let you know by email and point you at this thread.
