We are lucky in the UK to enjoy some of the cheapest domain prices in the world. That will remain true but they will not be as cheap. From the 1st March Nominet, the official registry of UK domain names, will hike it's wholesale prices by 50%. Unfortunately we will have to pass that cost on. A two year .uk domain will go from £8 to £12.
For a scathing attack on Nominet, a “not-for-profit” organisation that makes a significant profit even before this price rise see www.theregister.co.uk.
The .com type domain price also increases. A one year .com will go from £12 to £13.
