Re: Surface-cave communication while moving underground
Hi Luc, Stuart France (member of CREG, contact details at http://www.chelseaspelaeo.org.uk/contacts.htm ) designed and built a cave telephone for the South Wales Cave Rescue teams. I recall watching an interesting talk on the subject from Stuart himself. The article describing it is available from h...

Just done for the britiac3.miniserver.com server.
For those on the britiac3 server you will need to accept the new certificate when you next logon to your cPanel.

Re: Domain Name pointing
Hi Barry,
This isn't difficulty to do but it isn't done through the control panel, so you'll have to email Web Services (me).
For info on using external domains with Weebly see http://kb.weebly.com/domain-registrar.html
So far as I can tell this can only be done on one of the paid for plans.

Re: Version Updates to MySQL, PHP & Apache
Hi Kevin,
It is ready to go, but I need to write out a set of instructions for the webmasters rather than talk to each one individually.
I'll get back to you after Hidden Earth - or find me there if you are going.

Re: Version Updates to MySQL, PHP & Apache
I know it is a pain, I really don't have the time at the moment either but unfortunately it must be done since there are security implications in not doing so. The astute will have notice the deadline is upon us. From the feedback I've had and issues with the test server I'm going to move it back to...

Heartbleed security flaw - BCA Web Server unaffected.
News of the Heartbleed Bug broke on the 8th April. For example see bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26969629 . This is a serious issue. You are well advised to update your passwords where appropriate. The good news though is that the BCA Web Server is unaffected. Whilst it does use the openSSL software, it...

Re: Updates to hosting package and pricing
I've completed all the updates. You can check by looking in your cPanel at the Stats column on the left hand side of the page. Click on "Expand stats" if you haven't done so already. You should see 200MB -> 500MB and 1 Dbs -> 5 Dbs. If it doesn't look right or you have any questions, post ...

Re: Will WordPress work on the BCA server?
Hi Kelvin,
Yes caverescue.org.uk is hosted on the BCA server.
WordPress will be fine although I recommend you download the latest
version from the WordPress site rather than use the Fantastico version
available from the control panel. That version is very out of date.

Will WordPress work on the BCA server?
Kelvin Lake wrote:Emma Porter has asked me to look at "refreshing" the BCRC website, which I understand is hosted by the BCA.
To allow the BCRC Officers (or selected officers) to update things I was going to use Wordpress. I'm assuming it's possible to install Wordpress on the BCRC area?

Updates to hosting package and pricing
We are adjusting our prices. We can now offer a better hosting package for the same price of £25/yr. The standard hosting space is increased from 200MB to 500MB. The number of MySQL Databases is increased from 1 to 5. The cost of additional hosting space is reduced from £15/GB to £4/GB. Regrettably ...

Re: Cotswold caves
Hi Andrew,
Interesting stuff. Have you see the Mendip Cave Registry and Archive site?
It covers the Cotswold and might have some new sites to you. I can't find your sites in the registry from their name so it might be nice to added them.

New Server Certificates Issued
I've just done the annual issuing of self-sign certificates for the server.
You will find you need to accept the new certificate when you logon to your cPanel for the first time.
