Re: DYO space requirements

Hi Brendan, On the basic package you have 200MB to play with. Some of that will be lost to any mail boxes, databases, statistic logs, etc. The worst point will be when you have both the new and old site residing on the server. In your case you are currently using 100MB. Add 93MB for the new site and...

We are about ready to swap out the Dan Yr Ogof website. There are a few amends and tests to complete tomorrow, but should be in place to swap over content Tuesday. The current site is using about 73MB, the new site currently stands at 92MB.  We will want to add some more content and conservation do...

Emails bouncing to server admin

As the server admin I frequently receive emails generated by the hosted websites that have bounced. They should not bounce to me but to the website administrator - that way you'll know there is a problem. Generally it is the home-brew software that does this because the envelope-from address is not ...

Re: Request for more space for Cave Registry

Hi Dave,

if I could push it out to cloud storage I would but I don't think the archive software (SVN) will play well with it.

Re: Request for more space for Cave Registry

Hi Could we have some more please, and lots, just tried to port the hmg data that I am told that has been agreed, well ran out of space very quickly. I would suggest another 20Gb as the hmg is at 8 and we will have 5Gb+ of Matienzo data coming in. Andrew, I'll probably have to purchase more disk sp...

Re: Problems with local routing of email

Can't immediately see why that shouldn't work BUT your cron command to launch your php script looks decidedly odd (essentially '> php /home/[path]/test5.html') Does php process html code well? I think you should try using curl which will allow you to 'execute' a web page from the shell. Eg: > curl h...

Re: Website hacked?

Hi Chis, sorry, I can't directly help you since your site is not hosted on our server. However the steps you need to take our the ones I mentioned in my post above. Yes, that did resolve the problem but to some extent it depends how persistent your hacker is. No system is invulnerable, all you can d...

Re: Query on FTP file formats

They can do. FTP can work in two modes, binary or ASCII format. In ASCII mode the end of line character is converted as appropriate to the destination computer's operating system - which is what you are seeing (LF becomes CRLF or vice versa). In binary mode no translation occurs. The ftp client will...

Query on FTP file formats

On the off-chance one of you knows the answer to this... Do you know if, when files are FTPed to/from the web site, they undergo a format conversion, e.g. from CRLF to CR line endings? Ive noticed something odd (well, odd to me). On the BCRA web server, the size of index.html is reported as 23932 b...
