Testing your files on the new server
for those migrating from britiac2 to britiac3... Before you switch the DNS to point to the new server your new web pages are accessible as britiac3.miniserver.com/~ username in "the usual way". However, for this to give you a proper view of your web site you must be using relative links, ...

Re: Using PHP on the new server
Hmmm. Now that's odd. britiac.miniserver is not parsing my .user.ini file, but on my sandbox server (on britiac3) is IS parsing it. Thanks for doing the switch-over, Cookie. My .user.ini file is now being parsed, so the problem quoted above must be specifically do do with access via the miniserver ...

Re: Hang Son Doong Cave and Exploration in Vietnam
Statement posted on behalf of BCRA Chairman, Prof. John Gunn... It has comes to our attention that certain media outlets are carrying a story that mentions the BCRA in connection with the Guinness Book of World Records and the cave Hang Son Doong in Vietnam. The Association would like to make it cl...

Re: Using PHP on the new server
Hi Cookie, I think Im ready for you to move the Hidden Earth site onto britiac3 (No rush of course - it can wait another year :-). When you have flipped the switch, could you let me know straightaway (by text) so that I can do a full test? I cannot test it at britiac3.miniserver.com because the serv...

Re: John Hey
I bumped into John several times on LDWA walking events in Yorkshire but mostly, of course, I will remember him for the HeyPhones. If I recall, correctly, John manufactured some 50 units, which have been in regular use amongst the UK’s Cave Rescue Groups for some 15 years now. Additionally, CREG dis...

Re: Problems with Mailman
This is distinctly odd. The list is not posting to the TLDs .ca, .com, .net, .org. Is it just co-incidental that those are in the groupings that Mailman apparently handles separately, viz, from https://mail.python.org/pipermail/mailman-users/2011-October/072413.html ... the entire list is split into...

CREG-Announce Mailing List
There seems to be a problem with the CREG-announce mailing list , in that it is not sending to all the subscribers. There are plenty of reasons why this can happen - including the fact that the list will block your subscription if it gets too many bounces from your address. However, none of the obvi...

Problems with Mailman
Cookie, ... and anyone else.... Is there any known problem with Mailman at the moment? It is behaving very oddly. Several people on the CREG-announce list are not receiving messages. I have checked the server log and it looks like they are not being sent; that is... It is not a problem due to grey-l...

Book and Journal Reviews
This is an invitation to people to post short reviews of caving-related books and journals. The sort of thing that used to go in Speleology before it ceased publication. To begin with, please post them as replies to this message. If the facility proves popular (which might be doubtful, given the low...
