Adopt a cave scheme
Can anyone tell me if the adopt a cave scheme is still operating? If so is there a list of cave/mines/quarries that have been adopted? Is there any criteria or restrictions to people or groups taking this respsonibility? e.g. do they have to be members of the BCA? Specifically is Browsn Folly Quarry...

Re: BCA Club insurance question?
Thanks For the answer Les The insurance issue arose before and during our clubs AGM. From the BCA insurance FAQ - http://british-caving.org.uk/membership/08D1633_FAQ_2008.pdf I did find the FAQ and found Q86 to be worrying because it talks about some the possibility of un-insured claims but it is no...

BCA Club insurance question?
I would like some clarification about the BCA insurance. Suppose a club arranges a trip and non-club members come on the trip. Is the club insurance for our members nullified on this trip? Is this the case if the non-club members have their own BCA insurance? What about non-club trips ? Thanks Dave ...

Thanks for your guess Damian I am not sure that the policy has no effect. My expectations are that despite recognised problems there is no help from the BCA and basically if you organise childrens caving trips you are on your own. For example: #1 There is no BCA sponsored specialised training for ca...

Damian Thanks for your prompt answer. You seem to agree that the current policy statement is a barrier to the participation of children in caving. In practical terms what does it mean for the current policy to still stand? The advice given is clearly weakened by the fact that it is being reviewed be...

Damian This issue came to my attention when our club secretrary distributed some documents and statements on child protection. I am confused by this statement because on the BCA web site there are two documents in the legal section. Child protection policy http://british-caving.org.uk/legal/CP_Polic...

UBSS web site
Yes Graham The searchable references plus abstracts are great. One slight surprise was that Google did not find them..and I only found them when I persisted and tried searching on the UBSS site itself. Perhaps because no one yet references them from another web page(including the BCA).. although som...

hmm almost answered my own questions...
I searched the UBSS web site and found abstracts for the mentioned reference and another earlier article.. I am about to order the proceedings from UBSS.. contacting UBSs librarian.. Also the abstracts give me some slight understanding of what a gull cave is! The UBSS abstracts have aroused my curio...

I have a reference to an UBSS report Self C.A. 1995 The relationship between the gull cave Sally's Rift and the development of the River Avon east of Bath UBSS proceedings Vol 20 (2) pp 91 - 108 How can I get a copy of this report? Hmm thanks for the eventual reply
So unofficial access to Browns Folly through the main entrance has been stopped. Thanks for your efforts, although Browns Folly is a mine it is full of stalactites and formations usually found in caves. But it seems they have only been antagonised into negative action.. Several points: 1) The other ...

Is Sue Mabbett still reponsible for the e-mail distribution of the combination?
What sort of delay in a reply would be normal?
Is the lock in a useable state?
